FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Jake has been asking for months and months if he can go to school. Every morning he would grab his backpack and "go to school" in the living room. He's been dying to go so we have put him in Smarty Pants Preschool - Miss Jenn is his teacher, she has a preschool out of her basement, which is perfect for his age. He is one of 5 boys in his class, and no girls. He can't get enough of school, he loves it! He goes twice a week for 2 hours, we are all happy!
MYSTERY READER
Jake's class has a thing they call mystery reader. Each mom or dad takes a turn coming in, the kids have no idea who it is, and they read a story and/or do a craft with the kids. For my turn, I came in and read 'I Ain't Gonna Paint No More', one of Jake's favorite books. It's about a cute kid that paints herself from head to toe. After we read it, I let the boys color my hands and arms with marker - they were afraid to at first but after realizing it really was okay, they went to town! Here's the evidence:

Coloring
Wesley works with the youth boys at church and one night they went to a hangar to see this cool plane. He let Jake go with him and they had a blast of course.
They are a cute pair, I love that they are starting to play together now!
STOWE VISIT
Wesley's best friend, Bryant and his family live in Wyoming now, only a few hours drive from us so we've gotten to visit with them a lot more now. They came for the weekend. We went on a double date one night to see a soccer game.
While Bryant and Tiff went to do some errands, we took the kids to Little Monkey Bizness, a jump house place. They also had fire fighters come and visit which was a treat. The kids loved it!
We noticed that when we grill in the summer, we always get a couple of bees that join us while we grill and eat. but this summer, it was at an all time high. One day, we couldn't even count the number of bees that came around, half of us went inside to eat because they were all over. A few days later we looked up at the top of the house just under the gutter and noticed a beehive. It was about 5 inches or so in diameter. When Bryant came, he and Wesley decided to get rid of the beehive. Since the bee killer spray wouldn't reach, they grabbed the hose and decided to spray the beehive. They figured there were only a few bees in it since it wasn't that big. Ya, they were wrong. There had to of been about 50-100 bees in that hive. No wonder we had so many visitors during dinner this summer, they were only feet away from the food! Thankfully, the kids stayed inside while the dads disposed of the bees, and no one was stung, thank goodness. Have I mentioned how afraid of bees I am? Like a child, I freak out when they are near. K - enough of bee talk, here's the picture of them killing the bees:
Sunday dinner with the Stowes and Clint and Kara's family.
SLEEPOVER
My friend and I got together and had a sleepover with our kids. Wesley was at a campout and my friend's husband was working. It was a lot of fun! The kids got to sleep in the play room and watch a movie. We went to the park the next day, had donuts for breakfast and played and played. I love sleepovers!
DATE NIGHT
I was talking to my friend, Sari about things to do for date night and she suggested this improv place called Mad Cap Theater. I love improv! So 6 of us went to dinner and the improv show and had a great time! We went to a Mexican restaurant that had mariachis, and I got to request a favorite song of mine, Oye Como Va. Mariachis are one of my favorite things, it brings me back to my heritage, have I mentioned that I'm 1/2 Mexican? You couldn't tell? So dinner was fun and the improv was hilarious, and the company was wonderful. I love Sari and Jan, they are so much fun!
