One is a sock bunny that my friend Abby showed how to make on her blog. It was so siimple and a lot of fun! I actually decided to make it all by hand so I could just sit on the couch while Jake was sleeping - it took significantly longer and I will definitely use the sewing machine next time, but it still turned out cute:

Crafty me
I've been feeling pretty crafty lately - I have 2 things I made in the last week and I feel so proud!
One is a sock bunny that my friend Abby showed how to make on her blog. It was so siimple and a lot of fun! The next is a Valentine's heart wreath that I can hang on my door. It was so simple and fun to make - and I think it looks adorable on my door - and it cost around $7 to make, not bad! It's just made out of a styrofoam heart and pieces of fabric, my kind of simple! I'm feeling so excited to get crafty again - it's been too long! If you want to see how to make it, I went to this website that my friend Leslie referred to me, which has tons of cute and creative ideas: www.littlebirdiesecrets.com

Post Christmas Vick Home
We spent 3 weeks in Utah for Christmas and I just got back on the 10th, hence my late post. We spent the 1st week at my parents, the 2nd week at Wesley's parents and then Wes had to go to Vegas for business so I went back to my mom's house for the 3rd week. It was a great 3 weeks but it's always nice to come home to your own home.
I met up with some friends from my mission when I was in Utah. Lisa, Annette and her husband, and then Sally and David who I served with as well. They came for dinner and some reminiscing - it was great to see them!
We convinced Lisa to just spend the night since the weather was bad that night. Here's Lisa, Leslie and myself. Leslie has been a family friend of ours for a long time and just moved to Utah and it was great to see her
Jake warmed up to Lisa pretty quick - we loved having her spend the day with us
For journal purposes, I want to explain this whole story. One morning Jake got into one of the guest's rooms at my mom's house and found a bin with pills. It had prescriptions, vitamins and cold medicines in it. Luckily my mom heard him in there and quickly went to see what he was doing. So he only had about one minute to explore. My mom had noticed he'd opened one bottle and chewed and spit out a pill (cholesterol pill). We called poison control and they said that the cholesterol pill wasn't a big deal if he ate it, but I had to name all the other bottles in the bin just in case he did get into one. After naming them off, she said to just keep watch in the next hour, but he should be fine. She called back about 5 min. later and said that there was one that had acetametaphine in it. With all the other pills, you would see the symptoms right away, but with this one, you wouldn't see any symptoms until it was too late and his liver shut down and he'd need a transplant. Just for caution, she asked that we take him to ER to get him checked. The likelihood of him opening a bottle and closing it again is slim but you have to be safe. So we took him to ER. I knew going there that he hadn't swallowed anything, so that wasn't a worry but just being in the ER was stressful.
They put us in a room and hooked him up to the monitors and said that they'd draw his blood but they needed to wait for it to be in his system for 4 hours before they could draw. So we had to wait in there for 3 more hours. It wasn't the easiest to keep him put for that long, and he kept trying to take off the sticky things on his chest. Dad and Leslie came from work and brought us lunch which was a good distraction for Jake. They then came in to draw his blood. There were 4 of us holding him down and it was one of the most miserable things I've had to do. So I immediately start crying and have to look away from him (I was holding his legs). My dad was helping to hold him down as well. My mom was in tears and I think Leslie was as well. It was hard to watch. I composed myself so I could look and talk to Jake to calm him, man it was hard to do. He put the first needle in and it didn't take, so they had to switch sides. I was about to say some very not so nice things to the nurse, but I held back. I just felt bad that we had to do it all over again. Finally they got the blood drawn and left the needle and wrapped it up just in case they'd have to do more for him later.
He was worn out after and kept crying and saying Ow-ee about his arm, and I looked down and it was all purple, the nurse had wrapped it too tight so they took off the wrap and Jake slept for a bit. They came back after about an hour and told us everything was fine and we could go. We got home and I found myself emotionally and physically drained. Poor thing was such a trooper, he did so well and I felt so bad for him. Later that day he opened the kitchen sink cabinet and I went over and quickly shut it. It has all sorts of chemicals under there and I was not about to make another trip to the ER. I'm so glad that is over!
So, the next day, my good friend Emily came to visit one day. Sadly I didn't get a picture of her. But here's Jake in her shoes. He chesses it up in pictures these days
If I see Lea for a visit, I have her cut Jake's hair for me. This time, Jen brought her clippers and guided me through my first time giving Jake a haircut. It didn't turn out bad, but it wasn't my best work- I'll get more practice in time. I just absolutely hate going to a hair place to get Jake's hair cut. $20 bucks for a haircut? I hate it! So hopefully I can get better so I don't have to go to those places again
Jen and Shad let 2 of their kids stay a couple more days with mom and dad so Spencer and Malia got to stay and play with us. Jake loved playing with them
A trip to Target - Malia and Jake
The night before I went home we took the kids to Kangaroo Zoo with blow up slides. They had a blast! Here's the 3 of them going down a slide, you can see how much they enjoyed it!

We spent the 2nd week with Wesley's parents. We had a blast with them!
Max and Jake
New Year's Resolution of Clint's was exercising daily - Here's Jake giving him support
We went tubing one day - here's Lisa and her new baby, Dallas, he's just adorable!
We went to the Air Force Base Museum one day which Jake loved
Jake has this funny thing he does - he'll pick a book to read and bring it to someone to read to him. The majority of the time, he'll stop them from finishing the book and move on to someone else - it usually takes the 3rd to 4th person for him to like. This particular day, I was reading a book to Jake and he remembered liking how Sherri read it to him so he moved on quickly to her. It was real cute
Once again - Jake and Ella, this is how you will usually see them, with her resting her head on him, so sweet!
Wesley graduated from USU and I went there for a year so we went up to Logan one day. Neither of us had been up there since we went to school there. It was pretty fun, and Wes got to see the new Engineering bldg (he graduated in Electrical Engineering) so the Engineering bldg was where he spent most of his time. We ate at the Bluebird Cafe - so good! I hadn't ever eaten there when I was living there. Here's Wes and I
Lisa makes the best food, Jake got to help her make guacamole, which was such a treat for him!
At the tubing hill
Wes and Jake ready to go down the hill again
We went to a rock climbing wall one day. Everyone enjoyed it, here's Wes at the top!

Christmas
On Christmas morning, we all split up into sections. We had the kids open their gifts first, then the adults, and we had mom and dad go last so we could all watch them open their gifts. I loved doing it this way b/c then we could watch one another, especially mom and dad.
Here's an overhead shot of the Christmas chaos
Felecia and Logan got Jake mega blocks - we've been wanting him to get these for some time now. He loves them1
When Santa came, Jake didn't warm up to him very well, but he was more than happy to take the candy cane from Santa
Spencer, Mason and Jake playing Nintendo DS
Mom and Dad's section - Good morning!
The Vick section
The Przybyla section
The Edwards section (I know - I'm the only one in the room all showered and ready. I prefer to be all ready for the day while opening gifts)
The Kerns section
The Hardman section
The pretty Christmas tree - it's 12 feet and goes up past the stairs
We had to create an assembly line to move all the gifts from the den to the Christmas tree. It took us a long time to get all of it under or around the tree
Lita and Jake
On Christmas Eve, we acted out the nativity
Jake - a shepard

Mom & Dad Vick Home
We spent the first week at my parents house. We did lots of fun stuff - In no particular order:
We went to the church one night to play laser tag - Jake loved it
Mom and Dad
Lea and I
Felecia and Logan - playing Fox and Deer, a favorite childhood game we used to play
They made a slide on the backyard stairs for everyone to slide down - it was pretty cool. Here's Wesley helping Jake down it
The kids decorating Christmas cookies
Our family- yes that's Jake in the hot pink snow suit. We didn't bring one for him and borrowed other's snow suits. Wes is probably not happy that I'm posting this picture with his son in hot pink.
My parents have transformed part of their basement into a theater type room. It has a big projector screen. Everyone loved watching movies down there
Lots of games were played including Rummy, 5 Crowns, Phase 10, PIT (I haven't played that in forever, so fun!), and the Office DVD game
Jen and Jake - such a cute picture
You can see down into the living room from upstairs - here's Jake with Taylor and Spencer
Santa came to visit one night - none of the kids were expecting it, it was so cute to watch them all in awe to see Santa. This is Simon (Amanda and Scott's boy) with Santa
It's never Christmas at my mom's house without tamales and menudo. Here's a few of us sisters making tamales with mom. Yummy Food

Felecia - Yummy drinks (non alcoholic of course)

Afternoon naps (Scott and Simon)

More fun playing games on the game table in the basement
I just love the smile on Jake's face - he's with Uncle Logan and Wes
We were able to make it to Temple Square one night, very cold but so pretty!
