Happy Birthday Jacob!

Jacob just turned 2 on Monday - yep I have 2 boys nearly exactly 2 years apart to the day, I think it's fun! If I hadn't been induced, they may have been on the same day, but I like that they have separate days to celebrate now. Jake has been wanting a bike so bad so we got him a tricycle, seen below. He LOVES it!

We had a small celebration that with family and it was a great get together. Clint's family came over and my parents were here as well as my sister Felecia flew in. Here's Max helping Jake with a gift they gave him, golf clubs.

Jake and Ella sure had their fill of goodies. We had watermelon and corn on the cob, Jake's favorites! And we had hamburgers, spinach dip, stuffed mushrooms, macaroni salad and fruit salad - I'm full just thinking of our meal that night - it was soooo good!

We decided to keep the theme sports for Jake. My mom made cupcakes and I frosted them into basketballs - or attempted to. We also had a pinata, a tradition that will continue forever. I can't remember a single childhood birthday without a pinata!

Easter Egg Hunt

Our neighborhood has a big Easter Egg Hunt each year. I had gotten home from the hospital the day before so luckily I was home to go to with Jake and Wesley while my parents watched Cooper. It was lots of fun - 20,000 eggs they put out and they are gone in 2 minutes! Jake had a great time!


Jake also got to decorate eggs - we skipped the dying part but he used crayons and stickers and he had lots of fun!

I realized I haven't taken any belly shots this pregancy - I mean, who really wants to make memories of their bloated self? Not me. But I figured I'd just get one in.

Hospital - Here's both Wesley and I before the contractions hit - look at those smiling faces! I don't have any pictures of the pictures when the contractions kicked in... probably better that way. This next part will be for journaling purposes so skip ahead if you could care less about the labor and delivery.



We had our induction set for the 8th of April, one week before the actual due date. I not only didn't want to go til the final day, but I was hoping to be home for Easter and not in the hospital. We went in at 6:30am and they started Pitocin (sp.) at 8am. I felt contractions, more uncomfortable than painful for the next 3 hours. I was able to get a nurse who is good friends with one of my good friends whom I've met before and was hoping to get her. She was great and gave us all sorts of goodies for when we left the hospital. Then right after her I had the best nurse, Dee who made me the best drink of apple juice, cranberry juice and sprite 0... I loved it. The next day she came in to tell me she wouldn't be able to be my nurse and she was sad about that but she'd check on me again - I loved her! This hospital was amazing. So anyway, after the pitocin started, we just hung out and took naps until they broke my water. I was waiting for my water to be broken - and she did that at 11:30am, and that's when everything moved right along. They came on fast and hard - I was already at a 4 so they said I could have my epidural at any time. I told them I would be fine for a bit and the nurse left. Not even 10 minutes later I made Wes go find our nurse and get me my epidural. I am a big fan of epidurals - why stick with the pain any longer than I need to? Within a 1/2 hour, the epidural man was there to ease my pain! Sadly, it didn't take the first time and I can't even tell you how much pain I was in because of that. And then he said he'd have to try again... what???? I was wondering if I really wanted the epidural - well of course I did, so thankfully it took the second time. Everything moved along quickly and I progressed fast. We took naps again and then my nurse came in to check me again. She forced Wesley to go get something to eat (I tried to get him to go eat but he kept saying he was fine.) Thanks to my nurse for telling him to go and eat. I told him to just bring his food up and eat it in the room, I didn't mind, but he said he was fine. My nurse then told him to go bring back his food to the room and he complied. Why didn't I just get the nurse in the first place to force him to eat? Anyway, she checked me while he was gone and I was at a 10 and ready to push. Downside? My husband was out getting food to eat and my nurse told me not to tell him I was at a 10 so that he'd eat something. So he gets back and I'm watching him eat this yummy food that I can't have while waiting to tell him I'm at a 10 so I can get the baby out of me. I had to sit patiently and wait for him to eat... or not! I kept telling him to hurry and eat. I'd look over and say 'Are you seriously still eating?' And he'd just smile thinking I was saying that b/c I couldn't eat it... Finally my dr came in to check me and I looked at Wes and said - 'By the way, I'm at a 10... the nurse wouldn't let me tell you so you could eat'. He thought it was funny. My dr. checked me and said I was ready and to just push a little which I did and she said, 'Stop!' and pressed the call button summoning the other nurses telling them 'Delivery, we are about to have a baby'. Apparently, had I pushed any harder, he would have popped out! So they set up and told me to push for the first contraction and I got the head out with that one. I started pushing harder and she told me to slow down and not push so hard, which was nice. She had me push once more and he was out! All 8 lbs, 7 oz of him! He's 21 inches long, has quite a bit of dark hair and is just a cutie!

Wesley's parents were just here to visit and it was a great time! It is fun to see Jake remembering his grandparents now and have him get so excited to see him. Here's Marilee pushing Jake and Ella on the swings.
We went bowling one afternoon and it was lots of fun. Being 9 months pregnant, I realized that I could only bowl if I didn't bend over, which made for an interesting view. And by looking at this picture, you could tell my tummy was stretched to it's limits!Jake loved to bowl! I think he did better than a few of us the first game

But he got tuckered out 1/2 way through and fell asleep on the table we were at.

Bikes and Puzzles

Wesley bought a child's seat for his bike and that is Jake's favorite thing to do now. They will ride around for a while and when Wesley tries to end the trip and put the bike away, Jake yells for more and more, he can't get enough.
We all know now that we got rid of cable. The other night we were trying to decide what to do and since tv is becoming less intriguing, we opted for a 500 piece sea turtle puzzle. It was really quite relaxing and fun and I had such a good time hanging with my man!

Jake loves having people to play with - I watched my friend Becky's kids one afternoon and here they are with Jake in his ball pit. They only got to play for about 20 minutes but Jacob enjoyed every minute of it.
Maddie (Jake's cousin) came to play one day and offered to read to Jake. They are reading one of his favorites - 'I love you Stinky Face'.

Coming Soon

Our baby boy was born last Wednesday - Cooper Dean Edwards. I am getting some pictures of him taken tomorrow and will post those soon. Labor was good - I pushed for a minute or so and he was out - all 8 lbs and 7 oz of him! He's 21 inches long and just so cute. We are so happy he's here and loving having a baby again!

WE DID IT!

I thought I'd posted this a couple of weeks ago, but after reading a friend's blog about their cable I realized I just had this post sitting there waiting to be posted...so here it is:
We got rid of cable... including HD and DVR (the hardest for me to do). For two reasons - 1. we just saved ourselves $80 a month by changing to basic cable and 2. it was taking over our lives! Wesley and I used to play games all the time and hang out together more but it seems like the tv has been the center of our universe that a change was much needed. The money saving was what really made us get rid of it. Can you believe how much we were spending on tv each month? Hopefully this will only benefit us - and not just make me sad that all those fun shows are gone. I can no longer see what's coming next or in the next hours, days. I can't get a summary of each channel or see what's on, I have to wait for the commercial to be over to actually see what's on. And I can't just tape a show and watch it later, I will have to watch it live most of the time.
All that aside, I'm excited to spend my time doing other things in the evenings and spend more quality time with my hubby!

DATE NIGHT

We got tickets to Phantom recently, it was great, of course. It was my 3rd time and Wesley's 2nd time seeing it, I'm not sure we'd go again but it was awesome! The Phantom was the best - amazing! Beforehand we went to dinner at the Palm. It is typically very expensive but since Denver had their restaurant week that week, we were able to get our meal for less than the price of one meal. It was so good. The best steak! It was a great evening! Here's my cute hubby and I at the Palm.

Valentine's Day

This past Valentine's, we went out to dinner with Clint and Kara to Mama Louise's - a really yummy Italian restaurant. After, we drove down to Colorado Springs to see Brian Regan - our favorite comedian. He's funny and clean - very appropriate for families, we just love him! And the guy that opened for him, Kermet, was so good as well! We were just 12 rows back in the center, wonderful seats to see Brian's expressions. Here's Wes and I:

Random Pictures

I'm so behind with posting - being this pregnant isn't exactly any kind of motivation to post.

So, here's more pictures, pretty much of Jake, he's our world! One day we got home and it started snowing and Jake wanted to watch - so here he is in the chair watching out the window - too cute. And here's another picture of Jake falling asleep while eating popcorn - something that's occuring more and more these days.

I just think this picture is so cute, look at that cute face and pretty eyes! As for the potty picture... NO, we are NOT potty training - goodness he's not even 2, and not really showing enough interest contrary to this picture. This is a potty, but doubles as a stool which is what we've been using it for. But, Jake recently realized that it was a potty. Yes, he has pulled his pants down to go potty, but his diaper is still on. Sometimes if I have to go potty, he insists on bringing his potty in the bathroom as well. He's becoming more interested, not enough for me to consider potty training but in due time!

Another trip to the zoo - you can' t see very well, but this gorilla was right in front of us posing - it was hilarious! This weather here is so confusing... yesterday it was in th 60's and today it's snowing!

Vegas

My dad puts on tradeshows, one of which is in Vegas every year. We went to help set up for the weekend. It was fun because my parents were there, as well as my sister Felecia and husband Logan and my brother Jeremy. We all had a lot of fun. We stayed at the MGM, that's where the show was. Sadly, I only got 2 pictures taken the whole time. We went to Rainforest Cafe one night and Jake loved it. Here's dessert:

The MGM also has a lion exhibit. It's really cool. You can watch them from the side, or there's also a walkway which goes under the lions. Wes had Jake on his shoulders making him just inches from the glass walkway above. One of the lions jumped down on the walkway - freaked Jake out. You can see the lion from this picture. It was pretty cool.
