I thought I'd posted this a couple of weeks ago, but after reading a friend's blog about their cable I realized I just had this post sitting there waiting to be posted...so here it is:
We got rid of cable... including HD and DVR (the hardest for me to do). For two reasons - 1. we just saved ourselves $80 a month by changing to basic cable and 2. it was taking over our lives! Wesley and I used to play games all the time and hang out together more but it seems like the tv has been the center of our universe that a change was much needed. The money saving was what really made us get rid of it. Can you believe how much we were spending on tv each month? Hopefully this will only benefit us - and not just make me sad that all those fun shows are gone. I can no longer see what's coming next or in the next hours, days. I can't get a summary of each channel or see what's on, I have to wait for the commercial to be over to actually see what's on. And I can't just tape a show and watch it later, I will have to watch it live most of the time.
All that aside, I'm excited to spend my time doing other things in the evenings and spend more quality time with my hubby!

You are a better woman than I. I am in love with my DVR.
Way to go, not that TV is bad but I like that you are hoping to spend more quality time with your hubby. Online shows are pretty sweet. There aren't nearly as many commercials and you can leave and come back to it if you want. Congrats on the new baby.
good for you guys! I've actually thought of the same thing.. I think TiVo has become a member of our family and that isn't good!
